Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupati literally means " Lord of Animal." Pashupatinath is considered the patron deity of Nepal. The Pashupatinath temple was constructed by lichavi king supushpadeva of kathmandu in the fifth century A.D. The temple is one of the seven UNESCO world Heritage Monuments of the kathmandu valley. Pashupatinath is believed to have been regarded as one of the holiest sites for Hindus all over the world. Legend has it that a cow would frequently escape from its herds and offer milk at the point where the temple stands now days. It is said that the jotyir lingam was later found in the place by shepherds.
